# Why MegaETH? – Technology & Ideology

Mega Buddies chose MegaETH (Ethereum L2) as its home for both technical and philosophical reasons. MegaETH is known as the first real-time blockchain, delivering performance that bridges blockchain with Web2-like responsiveness. Concretely, MegaETH offers high throughput and low latency - it’s capable of over 100,000 transactions per second with sub-millisecond latency under optimal conditions, and has already demonstrated \~20,000 TPS with 10ms block times in its public testnet. This level of performance vastly exceeds the capacity of most existing chains and opens the door to truly interactive on-chain experiences.

Beyond raw performance, MegaETH provides a philosophical alignment that few other platforms offer. It’s a network built by a community of builders and visionaries who see Ethereum’s evolution as a cultural revolution as much as a technical one. MegaETH’s ethos is often described in terms of building a “Mega Civilization” – a new world of on-chain communities and applications that operate in real-time. Mega Buddies is envisioned as one of the citizens of this Mega Civilization, contributing to the cultural fabric. We deliberately chose MegaETH to align with its ethos of open collaboration and innovation. The project benefits from being part of a burgeoning ecosystem where experimentation is encouraged and community initiatives are supported (through programs like MegaMafia for builders and community hubs like MegaForge for cultural architects).

MegaMafia is MegaETH’s accelerator and 10x builders program, a collective of early-stage founders building novel dApps to showcase crypto’s power without constraints. As Mega Buddies grows, we intend to collaborate with MegaMafia projects – for example, integrating Buddies into games or DeFi platforms built by fellow MegaETH pioneers – thereby strengthening the network effect of the ecosystem. MegaForge, on the other hand, is emerging as a community-driven space: “where the architects of this civilization gather to construct the roads, economies, and cultural fabric that define this new onchain world”. Mega Buddies aims to be a regular presence in MegaForge, contributing to that cultural fabric with our unique brand of pixelated fun and rebellious spirit. In short, building on MegaETH isn’t just a technical decision, but a commitment to join a larger movement – one that shares our belief in decentralization, real-time innovation, and community empowerment.
